Good Morning Residents,
I hope you all had a good and safe weekend.
My team and I were on duty throughout the weekend, carrying out high-visibility patrols across the Faraday Ward, with a particular focus on Burgess Park. Many of you have raised concerns through Ward Panel Meetings, email correspondence and MetEngage regarding large gatherings, unlicensed music events, drinking, drug use and anti-social behaviour in the park, particularly during the evenings and overnight.
In response to these concerns, I obtained authority from an Inspector for a Dispersal Order covering both Saturday and Sunday night. The purpose of this order was to prevent unlicensed events and tackle the anti-social behaviour that has been impacting local residents.
On both Saturday and Sunday evenings, a large gathering began to form within the park. During the operation, officers took the following action:

Overall, this was a successful operation which addressed many of the concerns residents have raised with us. Whilst enforcement action was taken where necessary, the operation also provided opportunities to engage with vulnerable individuals and signpost them towards support.
We will continue to carry out patrols and targeted operations within Burgess Park and across the wider Faraday Ward to reduce anti-social behaviour, tackle drug-related activity and ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable space for everyone.
Thank you to everyone who continues to report concerns and share information with us. Your feedback directly influences where we deploy officers and the action we take.
Kind regards, James Southgate
